A personal philosophy. A different way of thinking about skin.

Perception Skin officially launched in 2024, but the journey began long before.

With a background in natural health, I’ve always been fascinated by plants and their remarkable constituents. Over time, that interest grew into a deeper curiosity about skin itself, its structure, its natural renewal processes and how we can better support it as it changes throughout life.

I became particularly interested in the relationship between skin barrier health, hydration and the lipids that help maintain the skin’s natural balance.

WHY SKIN LONGEVITY MATTERS

Skin evolves with us. From our late 30s into our 40s and beyond, hormonal shifts can influence hydration, elasticity, texture and barrier function. The needs of our skin change, and I believe our approach to caring for it should evolve, too.

Healthy-looking skin is about more than surface hydration. The skin barrier plays an essential role in maintaining moisture, while adequate hydration supports the natural process of desquamation, the shedding of dead skin cells. Together with the skin’s own renewal mechanisms, these processes contribute to skin that feels smoother, softer and more resilient.

This understanding shaped my approach to formulation. I wanted to focus on what supports skin over time: barrier integrity, moisture balance and carefully selected lipids that work in harmony with the skin.

THE THINKING BEHIND PERCEPTION

I’m particularly drawn to biocompatible, biomimetic plant lipids: their fatty acid profiles, their affinity with the skin and the diverse phytonutrients found within them.

For me, botanical skincare is about understanding the ingredients beyond their names. It’s about considering their composition, quality and purpose, and how they work together within a formulation.

Perception Skin brings this philosophy to life through concentrated cold-pressed plant oils, carefully selected Australian native botanicals and considered hydration. Each formulation is developed with the changing needs of skin in mind, with a focus on nourishment, barrier support and long-term skin health.

My intention has never been to chase a particular age or ideal of skin. It’s to create skincare that respects the biology of skin and supports it through its different stages.

INDEPENDENT BY NATURE

Perception Skin is independently founded, self-funded and personally developed by me, Hannah.

Every detail reflects a personal commitment to ingredient integrity, thoughtful formulation and the belief that skincare should have purpose beyond the surface. My background in natural health continues to guide this work, alongside an ongoing curiosity about the relationship between plants and skin.

I’ve also always felt a deep connection to Australian wildlife and the natural environment. In support of the landscapes that inspire us, 5% of sales from our Fig + Kakadu Plum Elixir are donated to The Wilderness Society.

Because the choices we make, in what we formulate, what we value and what we protect, matter.
