Meet Hannah Elizabeth, Founder of Perception Skin
Perception Skin officially launched in 2024, but the journey began long before that.
With a background in natural health, I've always been fascinated by plants and their remarkable constituents. Understanding how botanical ingredients can work synergistically to support healthy-looking skin has shaped my approach to formulation from the very beginning.
Like many skincare enthusiasts, I spent years using premium, trend-led products. Over time, I found myself wanting something more intentional.
As I explored the clean beauty space, I became perplexed by seeing the same handful of carrier oils used repeatedly, often without much botanical diversity or consideration for skin lipid composition. I also noticed that some facial oils and balms relied heavily on ingredients with higher comedogenic potential, which may not be suitable for everyone, particularly those with congestion-prone skin.
That isn't to say there aren't exceptional clean beauty brands, there absolutely are. But as a whole, I believe the natural beauty space still has room to evolve. I wanted to see a greater emphasis on biocompatible, biomimetic, nutrient-dense plant lipids, thoughtfully selected botanical ingredients, and formulations that specifically emphasised ingredient integrity, synergy and efficiency.
Perception Skin was founded on the belief that skincare should be purposeful, beautifully crafted, and grounded in ingredient richness. Our signature formulations are thoughtfully developed using concentrated organic, cold-pressed plant lipids, biocompatible ingredients and botanical phytonutrients, carefully selected to support the skin barrier, skin resilience and gentle renewal.
As a self-funded independent founder, I've personally designed, curated and built Perception Skin around these principles. Ingredients are chosen with intention, reflecting my belief that quality, integrity and thoughtful craftsmanship should always come before trends.
I've also always had a deep love for Australian wildlife and the natural environment. Supporting ethical and sustainable Australian botanicals is an important part of the brand, which is why 5% of sales from our Fig + Kakadu Plum Elixir are donated to The Wilderness Society to help protect Australia's unique landscapes and wildlife.
